The School of Ecology prepares bachelors in programs “Ecology and natural management” and “Technosphere safety”. The specialists in ecology are concerned with the problems of environment protection and rational nature management, such as ecological substantiation and examination of projects, environmental law, estimation of natural resources state and ecological monitoring, problems of cities’ ecology, geochemistry of landscapes, estimation of influence on the environment, ecological marketing and management, ecological audit, economical estimation of natural resources potential, determination of economical damage of environmental pollution.

Our aim is to teach to understand, to love and to co-operate with nature, but not to subdue it.

The Ecology and Nature Management Department was founded in 1998 as a leading chair, training the ecologists on the speciality “Geo-ecology” and the bachelors in the sphere of “Ecology and nature management”.

The main scientific trends of the department’s investigations are:

  • The elaboration of the methodological fundamentals and the establishment of the environmental monitoring
  • The elaboration of geo-information systems
  • The mathematical modeling and forecasting of natural anthropogenic processes

The perspective directions in the department’s work are:

  • Geo-ecological mapping and cartography
  • Ecological examination
  • Ecological law
  • Environmental monitoring
  • Geo-ecological investigations of polygons of waste burials

The Department of the Environment Protection and SVA (Safety of Vital Activity) carries out the training of bachelors in the direction of “Technosphere safety”.

The specialists of the Department of the Environment Protection and SVA carry out the ecological and geochemical, the radiochemical and the isotopic researches, work on the problems of geodynamic and geopathogenic zones, and the stability of landslide slopes.

The teachers of the department deal with the radiation and ecological examination, work out the methodological questions of ecological education in higher and secondary educational establishments.

Information about the School educational programs

The School trains the bachelors in the spheres of:

  • Ecology and nature management
  • Technosphere safety

During their educational period full-time students get knowledge in 12 general subjects and more than 40 professional and special subjects, which embrace all the directions and peculiarities of modern ecology.

The curriculum provides for carrying out the educational and production practical training.

Term of education is 4 years for any of School educational programs.

Scientific directions

  • Ecological substantiation of territory reclamation and construction projects. Working out the sections “The estimation of influence the environment” and “Environment protection”, according to the existing normative documents.
  • Estimation of ecological risks concerning territories for the purpose of their returning to economic usage.
  • Ecological examination of enterprises, water objects, objects of communal services and territories of various functional uses.
  • Working out water and land cadastres, cadastres of objects of national patrimony, giving out the recommendations of their rational use.
  • Complex ecological estimation of nature objects with elaboration and further conduct of monitoring observations on these territories.
  • Estimation of influence of waste burial dumps on the environment with elaboration of the recommendations of their reconstruction (recultivation).
  • Elaboration the strategy of production waste control and usage for different regions or cities.
